At the foot of the castle, along the ramp leading up to the village, stands the historic public drinking fountain of Monte Vidon Combatte, built in 1895 when the village was connected to the Polesio aqueduct. This water supply, sourced from Monte dell’Ascensione near Ascoli Piceno, served several towns, extending as far as Fermo.
Thanks to the efforts of Count Pelagallo, then mayor of the village, Monte Vidon Combatte obtained the water connection and built this drinking fountain, which has become a symbol of 19th-century progress and local ingenuity.
The structure, still well preserved today, features an arched brick frame, a metal basin, a memorial plaque and the municipality’s coat of arms in stone. Slightly further down Via Marconi, stands the historic washhouse, , once a community gathering place where women washed their laundry and animals were watered.
